Fancy Footwork and Awesome Attitudes

Six boys from Clarawood School competed in a 5-aside football tournament organised by the PSNI at Avoniel Leisure Centre.  Newcomers to the competition, Clarawood faced some tough opposition against teams from 8 local primary schools.

Taking to the pitch for their first game our boys held Euston Street PS to a 0-0 draw to pick up the first point of the day.  Next up was St Michael’s PS  who proved just too strong, beating us by 1-0.  The boys worked hard to keep this scoreline and finished the game on a positive note.  They took on top of the table team Nettlefield in the third game and took a 1-0 lead early in the game.  Continuing to battle hard it looked like a secure 3 points but unfortunately Nettlefield PS stole a draw with the last kick of the ball.  Not to be disheartened the boys from Clarawood School re-grouped and took on Avoniel PS in their last group game of the day.  The teamwork paid off as they finished the game and the day with a 1-0 win.

The boys were commended on their football skills and fancy footwork but by far the biggest success of the day was the sportsmanship and positive representation of Clarawood School by the attitude and discipline displayed by these boys.

 Well done!!!
